Rangamati is a district of Bangladesh in Chittagong Division. Rangamati is located at South-eastern side of Bangladesh. Rangamati is the largest district of Bangladesh by Area wise. Rangamati is a part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Rangamati hill district is surrounded by Bandarban District on the south, Khagrachari and Chittagong Districts on the west, part of Myanmar and India on the east and Tripura state of India on the north. Rangamati is 77 kilometer away from Chittagong district.
The total area of Rangamati is about 6116.13 square kilometer. In Rangamati district, there are 52 percent peoples are tribal (aborigine) and 48 percent peoples are non-tribal. The local tribes are the Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Murang, Rakhain, Lushai, Khyang, Bawm, Khumi, Chak, Tanchangya and Pankua. Rangamati district has ten (10) upazillas. The upazilas are Baghaichhari, Barkal, Kawkhali, Belaichhari, Kaptai, Juraichhari, Langadu, Nannerchar, Rajasthali and Rangamati sadar.

Kaptai Lake :
Kaptai lake is one of the beautiful place in Rangamati. This beautiful blue watery lake was produced by man. The size of Lake is approximately 11000km2, which was maked as a reservoir when the Kaptai dam was built during the 1960. This wonderful Lake was created by flooding valleys and plain lands between numerous hills all around the Lake. It has Bangladesh’s only hydro-electric project. The Kaptai Dam on the Karnaphuli River maked for this purpose resulted in the Kaptai Lake. This created a charming view as forested hills and plateaus rise from beneath the wonderful Lake water. A stretch of road connects the tourist spots of Kaptai and Rangamati. The road goes deep into the hill tracts and displays the natural beauty and wildlife of the district Rangamati. Kaptai National Park :
The Kaptai National Park is situated in Rangamati Hill District, which falls between the Karnaphuly and Kaptai Mountain Ranges. It was established in 1999 and its area is 5,464.78 hectares(13,498.0 Acres). Prior to declaration of the national park it was Sitapahar Reserve.The original Sitapahar Reserve area was 14,448.0 acres.Out of this an area of 100 acres have been dereserved for the establishment of the industrial estate at Kaptai.It is about 57 kilometer from Chittagong city.In this Park You can find plenty of old tree which were planted in 1873! This colossal plants and wild life of Kaptai National Park mystify the whole nature. There are a huge collection of plants in Kaptai National Park. You may feel a little bit nostalgic about your past in green village to the huge greenery of Kaptai National Park. In Kaptai National Park, there is a number of wild life like- Deer, Jungle cat, elephant, Monkey etc. Many species of Birds may also a matter of interest for the tourists and bird’s lovers. Kaptai National Park is a safe and sanctuary for birds and other wild life. Forest division founded picnic spot, restaurants in this Park. Tribal Cultural Museum :
This is the only Tribal Cultural Museum in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region. It was builted at Rangamati town in 1978 and run by the Tribal Cultural Institute. It preserves important objects and articles of different tribes representing their socio-economic, cultural and historical tradition. They are typical tribal dresses, ornaments, arms and ammunitions, coins, statues made of wood, bronze and other metals, ivory products, musical instruments, handicrafts, paintings on tribal life etc, are very attractive to the tourists.
Chakma Raj Bari :
Bangladesh is a beautiful country. There are many Rajbari in Bangladesh, Chakma Rajbari is one of them. It is situated in Rangamati. This Rajbari was constructed by Raja Tridiv Roy, father of Raja Devasish Roy in 1960 when the earlier palace went under water due to commissioning of Kaptai dam. It has been learnt that Raja Devasish Roy is in Thailand. Every year number of visitors are come here to see this beautiful House.
DC Bungalow Area :
The District Commissioner’s Bungalow is another tourist spot in Rangamati. It is Situated close to the lake. There is a small light house and a shelter accessible to the public. This spot provides a nice view of the lake.For this reason visitours are like this place.
